Currently, I teach science and math skills at a charter school in Up-town. I am seeking a better position somewhere around town where I am able to really show my abilities at enlightening students about the importance of science. I have to admit I am a bit of a nerd. I play chess, the only sport I was any good at was tennis, I have played Fantasy Football and do enjoy watching sports, I love going to the Houston Museum of Natural Science and never grow tired of it, I love animals and nature. My friends tease me because, when we are out doing things, I have this uncanny ability to find a good spot to inspect the local rocks. I have a degree from UT in Geology and have no qualms about enlightening others about my passions, so get ready to hear about paleontology. Sometimes on weekends I will drive hours away, crash at a friend or relative's place and go fossil hunting. Yes, I am that big of a fossil geek. I read a lot, enjoy hiking, and supposedly am quite funny, although I just don't see it. I talk a lot, care about the people I know, and show interest in other peoples' passions, just like I would want. I fit the nice guy bill pretty well and am seeking someone who is similar in that aspect, a nice compassionate woman who listens and learns, and teaches me about the things they love.

I recently just started a new job working for a non profit, helping with marketing, promotion, events etc and I am loving it! It's very rewarding and I hope to continue this line of work and to make a difference in people's lives. Why else are we here? To better only ourselves? I think not...

There really isn't much of a summary to me. I'm a construction geek. I spend my days welding, driving heavy machinery, burning things, climbing, boating, surveying, and doing random things. A multipurpose man, I suppose. Nights I spend hanging out with my friends, gaming, watching tv, or loafing about the internet. My job is to sacrifice myself, become a suntanned bluecollar beefcake so that there may be a place in the Tech Support pantheon for those more deserving geeks. For some reason, OKCupid periodically doesn't seem to retain some of my edits and selections. Since this particular essay is the most challenging one for me, have a jumble of short, disjointed sentences that, with any luck, gives you some idea of whom I happen to be at the moment.

I'm new to Houston as of November '09, from Austin by way of Bryan. Just *why* I spent a year in Bryan is a long and involved story. I'm a recovering IT professional freshly licensed as a massage therapist, though I still do enough computer work such that I can both hold my own in tech conversations and teach a few things besides. I play the guitar and keyboard to varying levels of proficiency (where "proficient" generally means "sounds like hell but I make it fun regardless.") I'm fairly well-read (though my reading has dropped off in recent years, albeit not by choice) and write the occasional poem or attempt at music. I enjoy gaming, though haven't done much recently, and have dreams of torturing my own group of victi...er...did I say torturing victims? I meant running a game, right, no torture here...running a game of my own at some point.

Despite what various metrics might claim, I'm an extrovert, though in truth I have introverted tendencies as well. I'm polyamorous. I'm also socially liberal, very physical albeit awkward about it, fun-loving and perpetually searching for the next adventure.

I have lots of interests. I LOVE music of all kinds. It's been a large part of my life. In the past I owned a fairly successful Entertainment / Record company. Through a lot of hard work and a little bit of luck we even managed to have some platinum artists on the label (some of the popular 80's bands). It was a great life experience that gave me some great memories I will have forever. I'm also a musician that makes music just for fun and personal enjoyment. I love to perform magic (illusions). There is nothing quite like seeing the sense of wonderment on someones face when you do an effect for them. I like target shooting and going to the shooting range although I haven't been doing it much lately. I spend time doing graphic art and have a line of shirts (among other things). Currently I work with one of the nations leading sales and motivational seminar companies as a promotions manager and I'm looking forward to traveling and seeing the world. I've had a VERY interesting life up to this point and I see no reason to let it stall out here.

I'm just a musician/actress/starving artist/weirdo. I can fix my own car, remodel just about anything, build a house, and also be a huge girl and cry during a movie like Pride and Prejudice. I'm in the Musician's Union(I'm actually rolling my eyes when I tell people that because it's not a big deal but people think it is) and I play the French horn, sing, play a bit of the piano, and on occasion, I've been known to play the drums. Guess being a drum tech came in handy. Well I was nearly born on a airplane from Rio de Janeiro Brazil via Houston. In other words I was born in Houston Texas. About 2 weeks later I was in Rio de Janeiro. I was raised there for about 8 years of my life. Until one day I was told we were going to Disney World and my mom talked me into to going and I haven't been back to Rio de Janeiro since then. Needless to say we never made it to Disney World and ended up in Houston Texas. My father was Brazilian and my mom is American. I have been in Houston for over 25 years so I am pretty much very American with ZERO accent. My mom is originally form Lindon Park. I love people before I meet them and try to make as many people happy as I can. I enjoy life in general and feel being miserable for any amounts of time is way too long. Enjoy life as much as you can. I somehow have ended up in Chicago in which a one week trip now has turned into a 3 week trip and I am considering to move here permanently or at least go back and forth from Houston to Chicago since I have family in both cities and people don't age backwards if you know what I mean.

I also love music. I spent many years being classically trained in piano. Now, I write my own music. I'm Jewish, but while I identify with Judaism as a culture, I'm not a follower of organized religion. I believe that spiritual belief is exactly that, a belief and a belief can not be taught or passed down. Only discovered. So I consider myself a very spiritual person.

I am an artist I enjoy reading and watching movies, but not a lot of television. I have fun easily, sing okay, and play video games poorly (but I haven't given up quite yet!) I wish I could play an instrument (besides the triangle and the kazoo.) I am active in the GLBT community and I am a performer in a Houston area gender-bending performance troupe as well as on my own. I moved to Houston for my job a while ago, but lived here before going to college in Austin. I really like my job, its new and interesting everyday. I graduated from UT Austin, so Im a big UT fan. I miss Austin but there is nothing in my career that I can do in Austin. I like anything related to sports. Big <<Astros>> and <<Rockets>> fan, not to mention all UT teams. I like to <<workout>> and ride my bike. <<Cycling>> is a hobby that I have gotten into and really enjoy, I have a road bike and ride at Memorial park when I can. Fitness is important to me. Anything active can easily become a hobby of mine. I'm thinking of trying to do a triathlon soon, but I just dont know about the swimming part. I always train pretty hard when I get involved in sports, and I would not like to get that exhausted when I am training in pools, not sure about that yet though.

I am a nice guy and really believe that you should always treat people how you want to be treated. Once I get comfortable around people I am very outgoing. I am a really honest, genuine, nice guy. Sometimes too honest, but oh well. I would rather say way too much than hold back.

My favorite outside adventures... snowboarding, sports, kayaking/river rafting (I have gone ocean/lake kayaking, and done river kayaking once, and river rafting like 5 times), I like to hike, I love to camp. I play ultimate frisbee about once a week.

I think I need to dance more - at the club, swing dancing, latin dancing, tap dancing, jazz, hip hop...

I also enjoy doing crafts - like sewing (almost done with this dress I'm making), scrapbook, make decorations. I love food - to cook and experiment with a new restaurant.

I love laughing and I think you can joke about anything. My friends are important and so is my family but I can go without seeing them for months at a time. School is the most important thing in my life. I am a man of simple pleasures. Going to a museum, dinner and a game of Scrabble sounds like a great date. Sound lame? I like consistency and reliability. While I am not looking for my the love of my life, I am not into one night stands, either. I've tried internet dating before with mixed success. I've tried the bar scene but it's not really my element. I like playing pool, watching movies and chinese food. A good sense of humor is vital but more so a compatible sense of humor. Sarcasm is a must.
I study history not because I want to teach one day, even though I probably will one day, but because the best stories have been already been told through human history.

I'm up to just about any adventure and will create a few of my own. I love to try new things and tend to plan them as little as possible. The best adventures are done on a whim. That's how I made it here to Houston. Decided one day to move and within the month I was here. I want someone to be real like I am. I can handle the truth and hope you can too because I'll tell it. I tend to tell on myself when I mess up because I learned people are more forgiving if you are honest up front.

It's pretty contextual; full of recipes, elliptical anecdotes, scientific conundrums, readaholic ephemera, eclectic To Do lists, miscellaneous paradoxes, contingency maps and dreams of foreign lands... the external stuff is pretty geeky: mad scientist, foodie, gamer, martial artist), centrist political sympathies (heart on the left, wallet on the right, don't use drugs but think they shouldn't be illegal, blah blah blah... basically small "l" libertarian and non-partisan in a 'pox on both their houses' sense), travel junkie, gardener, writer of run on sentences, you know, the usual. Im 21, a former Army Ranger (before fucking up my knees in a training exercise), came back home, accidently crashed my girlfriends Jeep, she broke up with me, then I found out she was cheating on me the whole time I was gone, became a Security Guard, quit, delivered pizza's, quit that, was Correctional Officer, quit that, fueled airplanes for Southwest Airlanes, was laid off, worked at a car dealership in the warehouse, quit, worked in a strip club as a bar back and bouncer, they decided not to pay me so quit, worked as a Hot Shot Delivery Driver, delivering anything and everything that could possibly be delivered, gas was to expensive so I was forced to quit, now Im a security guard again.... But this time I'm working at a strip club as a bouncer/DJ/Maintence Man/Bartender/Cook....

Well, introductions are always tough...trying to come up with an all encompassing summary of myself in a few sentences...so I'll just give you a preview. I'm constantly trying to keep myself entertained, because I hate being bored. Even in class I'll be doing something to make the time pass quickly and have a few laughs. I tend to find myself in bizarre situations... like having a homeless guy live in my house for 4 months, or picking up a 65 year old hitch hiker who then lectures me on medicaid and taxes for 20 minutes before getting dropped off two houses down from my own house. I've also seen fires in my backyard that were taller than the roof and fallen off a concrete wall when trying to discretely leave a party. I love being in large groups of people and tend to set up the social gatherings for my friends and I. I'm a medical student but just because I want to be a doctor doesn't mean I am willing to slave away with my nose in a text book all the time.

What to say about myself, I will be honest these things are always so hard to write. But I can give it my best shot. I am a young city dweller who has an interests in many different things. I can be a bit shy at first, but once I warm up to people I am open and very friendly. I enjoy a good book as much as I enjoy good company. My favorite time of day is night and I love rainy days. I have an diverse love of music, movies, books, and various other things. Though, I am a pretty big geek. I enjoy various web comics and RPG games. Life is kind of good right now by myself. But I guess it wouldn't hurt to have someone to share all the good times with - and the bad. Who am I kidding? Sometimes I can't believe things like that come out of my mouth. So what am I looking for? I'm looking for someone who is willing to put up with me wanting to take care of them. I like to nurture people and make sure they are happy. I would like to find someone who enjoys the little things I do for them on a daily basis... and wants to do them in return for me. I'm a very giving person - sometimes it backfires, though, and I end up getting hurt. I am very friend and family oriented. Without my family and close friends, I am nothing. I would do just about anything in the world that they would need me to do for them. It takes alot for me to warm up to some people, but once I do and you get in that circle of mine, you're golden :-) I enjoy spending time with children. When I'm having a really bad day, I really like to spend time with my "neice". Seeing her laugh and smile or learn something new really puts things into perspective. We as adults take things too seriously sometimes. Life should be kept simple. Speaking of laughter... I love to laugh - so you have to be able to make me laugh. :-) And I love to see other people smile. A smile can be a very comforting thing. I am originally from Western PA and have only been in Houston for about 2.5 years. I'm planning on making this a permanent move - much to the dismay of my grandparents. But I get back to visit them pretty often, so it works out.
